A Stable is a room that is required for ranching. It is created by placing a Ranching Building inside an enclosed room with a size of 12-96 tiles.
The maximum number of critters that can be held in a stable depends on the critters. Each critter has a certain space requirement (in tiles):
Critter | |||||||||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Required Space | 12 | 16 | 12 | 12 | 12 | 12 | 4 | 12 | 8 | 16 | 12 | 12 | 16 |
Max Critters in Max Size Stable |
8 | 6 | 8 | 8 | 8 | 8 | 24 | 8 | 8 | 6 | 8 | 8 | 6 |
If the sum of all space requirements is greater than the room size, all critters in the room will get Overcrowded (-5 Happiness) status.
Eggs left in the room count towards the number.
Morbs are ignored when calculating the required room size.
Shove Voles will count towards the stable overcrowding, however, they do not care about any amount of overcrowding themselves.
Cuddle Pips consider each egg type to only require 4 tiles of space.
Tips[ | ]
- Critters might spread too much in maximum size stable, slowing down grooming, feeding and resource production. It can be mitigated with non-room breaking door.
- It is inadvisable to keep open doors in ranches, even if critters can't run away, they still get stuck in open doorframes and will get debuffs as if entombed. It also interferes with buildings ability to count critters inside the room.
- Fish Feeder needed for taming Pacu doesn't require to be in a stable to function. This allows ranching them in any room.
