Cobalt Ore to Cobalt Smelting[]

Cobalt Ore smelting adds 61.1 kJ of heat according to the game. Some quick math indicates that it should increase the temperature of water by 29.234C. Could someone check my math for me? --ChthonicOne (talk) 05:28, 17 March 2021 (UTC)

I'm not sure which equation you use, but you're correct. refining Cobalt heats 400kg of water up by 29.2°C, at waters specific heat capacity of 4.179, this is 48.81 kDTU - the unit of heat the game uses instead of kJ which is the unit for heat in real life. Shouldn't matter which equation I use, so long as we both come to the same conclusion. How I did it though is if Copper adds 40.2 kJ and raises the temperature 19.234C, and Cobalt adds 61.1 kJ of heat, then it should raise the temperature 29.234C. It's the law of ratios. T1/H1 = T2/H2 where 1 is copper and 2 is cobalt since I had the numbers for these on hand. Then you just solve for T2. --ChthonicOne (talk) 05:40, 18 March 2021 (UTC)

Updated the page based on the above conversation with new values for Cobalt. By my calculation this places it between Aluminum and Iron in heat gain. Kept 3 digits of precision. I assume that underscore means one pass before cooling required and strikethrough means you cannot smelt this without causing a phase change in the coolant, so I kept that notation as appropriate.--ChthonicOne (talk) 06:11, 18 March 2021 (UTC)
