Is one of these preferred over the other? Wikipedia's style guide calls for normal capitalization of link text (so you'd write "to generate [[Power (Building)|power]]", not "to generate [[Power (Building)|Power]]"), and I was about to start editing that way, but I saw that pretty much everything is treated like a proper noun.

* I'd say do whatever reads better. I treat it by emphasis. Say, you have to put attention that specific liquid called Polluted Water is in recipe, but you do not have to emphasize more general mechanics like "from space destination" or "germy water". There is also a bit of problem, since we don not have enough overview pages (e.g. Power/Electricity), only guides and building categories. Your Duplicants will need water, warmth, food, and oxygen to keep them alive, and even more than that to keep them happy. Check out the getting started guide for some tips to begin your adventure. Good luck and don't forget your multi-tool!

Add a Units page linked to by units on infoboxes[]

Just seems appropriate for a game like ONI, would be really useful for people unfamiliar with them, too.

E.g. as someone unfamiliar with any physics, I find it really brain-wracking trying to figure out how to convert things around and figure out how much heating in W I'd actually need to boil water in pipes, and trying to figure out if oxygen even conducts it well enough for that to be possible...

Like, why is thermal conductivity in W/m? Is the m a minute here? What does it mean if W is already J/s? How do I make any use of these values? Why are values per cycle never stated anywhere?

Or, in other words, a short guide on units the game uses, how to convert and work with them, etc.

This is a good idea. I was confused by "DTUs"; turns out they're just joules. I'll look at making a page. Chemicalcrux (talk) 14:11, 9 August 2019 (UTC)
I created a page with some units outlined here: Units. Chemicalcrux (talk) 14:50, 9 August 2019 (UTC)

Title and link capitalization[]

Most links to related articles are capitalized like proper nouns (e.g. Polluted Water), but others are not (e.g. power). Most articles are also titled like proper nouns, with capitalization for every letter.

Is one of these preferred over the other? Wikipedia's style guide calls for normal capitalization of link text (so you'd write "to generate power", not "to generate Power"), and I was about to start editing that way, but I saw that pretty much everything is treated like a proper noun. Chemicalcrux (talk) 14:09, 9 August 2019 (UTC)

I'd say do whatever reads better. 46.0.37.228 14:22, 9 August 2019 (UTC)

Hi! There is no ongoing effort to create a french translation you could join. If you feel you have the capacity, you can be the one to start it!
There are two ways to go about this. You could either create localized sub-pages. (Compare Building and Building/zh) Once you and your future team translate a good number of pages, you can ask the staff to migrate your /fr pages to a new wiki.
Alternatively, you could create a new french language wiki from the get-go. In that case, the new wiki might have (more) trouble attracting contributors and being discovered.
It is recommended, that you seed your work on this wiki, that way you'll have a better idee of the progress you have made already.

Link to "Getting Started?"[]

As a beginner I wanted a place to get started, and it took some digging before I found the "getting started" guide.

I'd phrase this as something like:

Your Duplicants will need water, warmth, food, and oxygen to keep them alive, and even more than that to keep them happy. Check out the getting started guide for some tips to begin your adventure. Good luck and don't forget your multi-tool!

I think that'd be out of place there, but I put a link to it in Category:Guides, which is linked at the top row, hopefully more discoverable. KGello (talk) 20:15, 16 August 2022 (UTC)
