Changes: The Badlands Asteroid

The Badlands Asteroid is an Asteroid Type in the game of Oxygen Not Included. It is a dry Asteroid with little natural Liquids.

Biomes

The Badlands Asteroid is composed of following Biomes:

Temperate Biome

- Start variant
- Mini Metal variant
- Mini Water variant
Caustic Biome

Rust Biome
Barren Biome
Volcanic Biome
Oil Biome

Notably, The Badlands is the only Asteroid Type that includes Barren Biome.

Important Resources

Oxygen

Electrolyze the Water in Temperate Biome. Rust and Salt in Rust Biome can be turned into Oxygen.

Water

Temperate Biome has some Water supply. More water can be fetched from Cool Steam Vent.

Polluted Water

The Badlands lacks Polluted Water. Player has to melt the Polluted Ice in Frozen Biome, or find a Cool Slush Geyser.

Raw Minerals

Barren Biome has large quantities of Granite.

The Badlands lacks Sedimentary Rock. Player has to break Fossil into Sedimentary Rock. This has some impact on Stone Hatch breeding.

Metal Ores

Temperate Biome has Copper Ore and Caustic Biome has Iron Ore.

The Badlands lacks Gold Amalgam in the map, and it must be sourced from meteors at the surface. As a result, it cannot produce Oxylite as easily as other asteroid types.

Reed Fiber

The Badlands lacks Thimble Reed. Instead player has to shear the Drecko to get the Reed Fiber.

Crude Oil

Oil Biome has large quantities of Crude Oil.

Ranching

Following Critters are available in The Badlands and can be tamed:

There is no Sedimentary Rock available in early game which is required for Stone Hatch breeding. Player has to break Fossil into Sedimentary Rock instead.

Industry

Gold Amalgam is not available in The Badlands. As a result there is some difficulty to produce Oxylite and Super Coolant.

Heat Management

The heat could be easily managed in The Badlands as both Frozen Biome and Rust Biome are available.
